Home Repair
Since 2002 RADC has invested over $3 million into homeowner improvement projects in the Near Eastside, serving over 230 families. Repairs completed include roofs, gutters, windows, furnaces, plumbing, electrical, flooring, sewers, masonry, and siding.
82% of the families RADC served had incomes at or below 50% of the area median income as determined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Elderly and single female households were the most common served. The need can be overwhelming; in some cases the amount of the work ($10,000 average) may exceed the household’s annual income.
Funding for the repairs is provided by:
- Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program of the City of Indianapolis
- Health and Hospital
- Neighborhood Impact Program (NIP) of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBI), partner Old National Bank
- Rebuilding Together
